The much-awaited ‘83’ is out in theaters and is receiving phenomenal response from the fans. The sports drama showcases how an ‘underdog’ Indian team stunned the cricketing world by lifting the 1983 World Cup. The Kabir Khan-directorial has been lauded by several fans and experts and the movie looks all set to shatter several records at the Box office.

Several members of the Bollywood and cricket fraternity, including Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, also expressed their delight after watching the film. However, there’s also a section of fans which is not happy with the release of the movie. Those are the fans and supporters of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who passed away last year.

These netizens claim that Ranveer had mocked the Chhichhore actor in one of his advertisements last year. For the unversed, Sushant was known for his affection with physics and gadgets like telescope. He often discussed how he uses to see the stars and planets at night. Owing to the same, an advertisement featuring Ranveer didn’t amuse them.

The commercial, which was meant to be comical, sees Ranveer seen dealing with nosy elders by using complex physics terms in a gibberish sentence. While several found the ad funny, it didn’t go down well with SSR fans. They claimed the Padmavat actor has mocked their idol.

Criticizing Ranveer and his wife Deepika Padukon’s silence over injustice that followed after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, fans demaded a complete boycott of Ranveer Singh’s 83. In fact, #Boycott83 became one of the top trends on Twitter.

“Ranveer Singh has mocked Sushant multiple times. Please show our unity and make his film super duper flop. SSR An Incredible Human Being #Boycott83,” wrote one of the fans. “Guys please boycott 83 as Ranveer is challenging MS Dhoni film and all the media will start belittling our beloved SSR. so Pls pls boycott #Boycott83,” read another post.

Speaking of the box office collection, 83 is estimated to earn around 28 crore within the first two days of its release. Now, it would be interesting to see how far the film goes.
