Cumilla Warriors have gone into a mini-slump after back-to-back defeats in the ongoing Bangabandhu BPL. After their five-wicket defeat at the hands of Dhaka Platoon, Dasun Shanaka and Co are precariously placed fifth in the points table. Their next game is versus the Rajshahi Royals in the second of Tuesday’s doubleheader at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

Another defeat could make their journey in the last four games a tad on the tricky side. The Royals won’t be an easy opposition by any means. The Royals have lost the least number of matches in the tournament and are in the second spot of the table with three victories from four matches. Andre Russell’s men earlier rolled over the Khulna Tigers by seven wickets on Monday’s night contest.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch in Chattogram turned out to be an absolute belter in the first few matches. Bowlers had to duck for cover amidst carnage. But over the last three to four matches, the track has shown signs of slowing down a wee bit as the scores have gone down a bit. Teams batting second have still gotten a massive advantage. The temperature will be around 19 degrees Celsius with the humidity in the 70s.

The Warriors’ batting hasn’t been their weaker point. Dawid Malan and Bhanuka Rajapaksha have 200 and 178 runs respectively. Englishman Malan succumbed to an odd failure last time, but Bhanuka turned with an unbeaten 65-ball 96 that should keep him in a positive frame of mind.

Soumya Sarkar has threatened, but needs to score big. Dasun Shanaka has gotten the big shots going with a strike-rate of 206.66. In the bowling department, Mujeeb has picked up seven wickets at 5.26. The rest have been inconsistent. Sarkar has eight wickets, but at an expensive economy rate of 9.43.

Dhrubo has been clinical with the ball as well. Last night, Ravi Bopara and Andre Russell got a couple of decent scores under their belt and has looked reasonable. The duo has delivered with the ball with a combined tally of 13 wickets. Abu Jayed Rahi and Farhad Reza have also contributed well.
