Bangladesh Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim is all excited for the upcoming cricket season. The Bangladeshi players are lined up to play two top nations – Australia and South Africa – in their upcoming international assignments. This will soon be followed by their cash rich T20 league – the Bangladesh Premier League. The BPL authorities and the team owners have already started talking about their plans for the upcoming edition.
Albeit the tournament is still 3 months away, the hype around it has already escalated. Many cricket pundits believe that this might potentially distract the Bangladeshi players from focusing on the upcoming Test series against Australia in August. Mushfiqur Rahim, as per the quotes in newagebdd.net, has other opinions though.
He was named as the icon player for the Rajshahi Kings recently. At the event, he cited that the professional players have to cope up with such situations. He further added that the players have to learn to deal with such commitments. Also the fact that the players have been playing good cricket consistently will boost their morale in such situation.
“I think as a professional player you have to cope with all the situations. In current cricketing world not only Bangladeshis but also players from other countries have to cope up with these situations. There is no chance of it causing a distraction for the players,” quoted Mushfiqur Rahim.
“We might have to play a Test series on home side right after playing one-day internationals and Twenty20s in an overseas tour. You have to adapt to these sorts of things. In last four to five years, we have been playing consistently, so I don’t think it will create a big impact on players,” he added further.
On succeeding in T20 format
Mushfiqur Rahim has been associated with four teams in the BPL prior to joining the Rajshahi Kings. He has played for Barisal Bulls, Duronto Rajshahi, Sylhet Royals and Sylhet Super Stars. In the previous season, he was with the Bulls. This year, the owner of the Barisal Bulls Awal Chowdhury had recently slammed Rahim as irresponsible.
Following this, Rahim made a switch to Rajshahi where he replaced Sabbir Rahman as their icon player. Talking about the ways to succeed in T20 format, Rahim cited the importance of consistency and team work. He said it is of utmost importance to get support from other end.
“In Twenty20 format your team can’t do well only with one individual performance. In the last four years where I played, I didn’t have the magic power that would bring the success to my team. Twenty20 is a kind of game where you have to perform as a team. It becomes very difficult if you don’t get the support from the other hand,” conceded Rahim.
