Brad Haddin unmasks the drunkards of the Australian team, terms them as 'rascals'
The Starc-Cummins-Hazlewood pace trio is certainly the fiercest in the world.
Of all the pace attacks in the world, Australia’s magnificent trio is certainly the fiercest. It takes a lot of courage to be a batter when you have to face the thunder in form of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood. The former achieved a remarkable feat recently by picking up two hat-tricks in a single match. Former Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin has revealed the drunkard side of the amazing pace trio.
Australians are never really shy to pop open a can of spirits, and the cricketers certainly like to indulge in some liquid delicacies. Cricket-loving Aussie spectators enjoying a sunny day at the stadium with a beverage can in hand- this scene is not at all rare in down under. With the Ashes just about the corner, there have been a lot of discussions in the media about Steve Smith‘s prized assets.
Speaking to Triple M’s Before the Ashes podcast, the former Australian skipper unmasked the naughty boys of the Australian team. “I think the Australian public needs to get to know these three quicks over a beer — (Mitchell) Starc, (Josh) Hazlewood and (Pat) Cummins. They’re really, really good people but also they’ve got that little naughty boy glint in their eye when they’ve had a few drinks and I’ve always said rascals win you comps, you need rascals in your team to win big moments and to push the envelope every now and then,” the 40-years-old from Cowra, New South Wales said.
“I know these three are pretty straight and narrow in front of the media but (when) you get a beer into those three behind the changeroom, they’ve got a lot of energy about them. But do not get stuck at the bar with Josh Hazlewood. He’s got hollow legs,” he further added.
Haddin’s infamous drunk interview
The day after winning the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, the owner of 16 ODI half-centuries gave a drunk interview to a radio channel. “I’ve got a coach who’s spooning the World Cup who can’t speak. I’ve got James Faulkner who’s got his clothes off but don’t tell everyone — and I’ve got the Marsh boys, and you know, I can’t even talk about the Marsh boys because you know what trouble they have,” he said.
When Haddin was questioned about him continuously sledging the Kiwi batters in the final, the ‘no holding back’ guy replied, “You know what? They deserved it.”
