Just a few days ago Cricket Australia (CA) took a public approach in order to find an appropriate applicant for the selector’s post. In past, this post has been held by some top cricketing greats of the country like Allan Border, Sir Donald Bradman, Mark Waugh and many others.

The CA had posted the advertise on a job searching portal and the experiment didn’t work well even as they removed it the very next day. This news reached across cricketing fraternity and one player that made fun of it is was Brad Hodge. However, he also went on to say that he could become the national selector.

While speaking to a Macquarie Sports Radio, the former Aussie all-rounder confirmed that he has the ‘right tools’ to become Australia’s newest cricket selector. Taking a cheeky dig over CA’s public approach for the supreme post, Hodge said that he tried submitting for the post but the website got crashed on the next day.

“I tried to get my application in but (the website) crashed the other day. Look it’s a role I’d actually certainly consider. I figure I’ve got the right tools to actually go about it and see how it works. There’s a long process you have to go through and I’m sure there’s plenty of good candidates out there,” he told.

He also feels that it is completely different from playing cricket and the working on such a senior post has changed a lot with the time. “I think my experiences are completely different. The landscape has definitely changed,” he added.

Brad Hodge also discussed Chris Lynn‘s omission from Australia’s T20I squad and thinks that he is one of his country’s top T20 player. He also feels that the selectors should track his performance outside the home conditions as well and not just at home.

“For me, Chris is definitely in our top T20 players. He’ll have to fight his way back in, The hardest thing now is people in Chris’ place play most of their cricket overseas. Someone needs to keep an eye on that and have a full understanding of how our cricketers are going not only in this country but outside.” the former player further added.

The 44-year-old played only six Tests for Australia but he is still the leading run-scorer in Sheffield Shield with 10,474 and holds the record for most runs in Australian domestic One-Day tournament.
