Brad Hogg picks top four players to watch out for in the India-Australia ODI series
The series opener between India and Australia will be played at Wankhede Stadium on January 14.
Australia is currently gearing up for the three-match ODI series against India. This will be the first time that both the teams will be featuring in the 50-over format in the year 2020. It is expected to turn out to be an enthralling clash between the two heavyweights due to their star-studded line-ups.
Virat Kohli and Co. would be eager to avenge the loss of their previous series against Australia in the 50-over format. The visitors had earlier defeated India in 2019 by a margin of 3-2. Both the sides have announced a full-strength squad for the most-awaited series of 2020. The series opener will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on January 14, followed by the next games in Rajkot and Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, Australia’s veteran spinner Brad Hogg has opened up about the four players that will be the ones to watch in the ODI series between both the stalwarts.
Brad Hogg picks his top players in the upcoming series
Hogg revealed his four players for the India vs Australia series on his official Twitter account. The first player that he is excited to watch is young Aussie wicketkeeper Alex Carey, who bats in the lower-middle order for his team. Carey has undoubtedly emerged as one of the biggest positive for his team in the past 12 months. In 29 ODIs, he has muscled 804 runs with a best of 85. Moreover, he did convincingly well in World Cup 2019 for Australia.
The second player from Australia is Marnus Labuschagne, who is expected to make his debut in the limited-overs format for his national side. He had recently hogged the spotlight due to his brilliant performances in the longer format and Hogg is curious to see if he can replicate his form in ODIs.
The 48-year-old feels that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and Navdeep Saini will be the players from India that will play a vital role in the upcoming series for Team India. As per Hogg, Bumrah will be a trump card for Virat Kohli and Co as he has emerged as one of the leading wicket-taker in the last couple of years.
Meanwhile, Navdeep Saini impressed everyone with his lethal pace and accurate yorkers in the recently-concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka. He took five wickets in his two games on a brilliant economy of 5.9.
