'Break the bubble and come home already' - Prithi Ashwin posts adorable message for husband Ravichandran Ashwin after series win
Ravichandran Ashwin was adjudged the Man of the Series for taking 32 wickets and scoring 189 runs.
Ravichandran Ashwin starred with ball, helping India thrash England by an innings and 25 runs in the fourth Test to wrap up the series 3-1. The game lasted less than three days as the hosts stamped their authority over the beleaguered visitors. Trailing by 130 runs after the first innings, England’s batsmen fell like a pack of cards once again as they were all out for just 135 runs.
Ashwin wreaked havoc with the ball once again and picked up five wickets in the second innings. His spin partner Axar Patel also continued his strong start in international cricket as he picked a fifer too. Barring Dan Lawrence (50), no other England batsmen managed to provide any resistance on a pitch which was not a rank-turner by any stretch of imagination.
England’s second innings started just three overs before lunch and ended just after the third session started on day three. The tourists survived three overs through to lunch but capitulated in a spectacular manner after the break as the predictable procession of fall of wickets began. At one stage, there were reeling at 30 for 4 and then 65 for 6 before Lawrence and Foakes (13) hung around, sharing in a 44-run stand for the seventh wicket to at least ensure the game was taken into the final session.
And it did not take India long to take the remaining wickets to inflict a humiliating innings defeat on the visitors after action resumed. With the win, India also secured their place in the final of the ICC World Test Championship. They will lock horns against New Zealand in the much-anticipated game at the iconic Lord’s later this year.
Prithi Ashwin’s message for husband Ravichandran Ashwin:
Ravichandran Ashwin was adjudged the Man of the Series for his fine performance with both bat and ball in the series. The Tamil Nadu ace finished the series as the highest wicket-taker, picking up an impressive 32 wickets with the help of three five-wicket hauls. He also impressed with the bat and scored 189 runs including the stunning century in the second Test.
And as Ashwin was receiving his Man of the Series award, his wife Prithi Ashwin took a photo of the moment and posted it on Twitter with an adorable message. Prithi asked her husband to break the bubble and return home quickly. Ashwin has been staying in the bubble since August last year when the preparations for IPL 2020 began. It was followed by the tour of Australia before the Test series against England.
“now break the bubbbubble and come home already. @ashwinravi99,” wrote Prithi.
