Brendon McCullum’s ODI career in numbers

Brendon McCullum appeared for one last time in the Kiwi black on February 8, 2016, at the Seddon Park in Hamilton during the 3rd ODI against Australia. He can easily be called the greatest batsman from New Zealand, and arguably even the best among those who made their debuts after the year 2000.

One of only three batsmen to score 6000 ODI runs, Brendon McCullum played 260 ODI matches which yielded 6083 runs at a strong strike rate of 96.37. He scored five centuries and 32 fifties with the career best of 166.

He scored more than 1000 runs against only one country in his ODI career.

McCullum has scored more than one century only in New Zealand (2). He has scored a century in India, Scotland, and UAE.

His average is above 50 in only three countries in ODIs – Scotland (94.00), UAE (76.00) and Zimbabwe (54.80).

He scored his runs at an average of 45 in only one year which is 2008 when he scored 618 runs from 16 matches at an average of 47.54.

McCullum has never scored 1000 runs in a calendar year in ODIs. However, he has scored more than 700 runs in three calendar years – 2007, 2009 and 2015.

He scored 6 half centuries in 2015 which is most by him in any calendar year and which was the main reason why New Zealand was the runners up of the ICC World Cup 2015.
