Although the Hindustan times rated the movie UnIndian a mere 2/5, it is clear that the movie has captivated those who have viewed Brett Lee as a man with flashes of Indian flavor to him. Playing the role of a single Australian man, the former Aussie pacer’s love life comes to a cornerstone when he runs into an Indian woman living in Australia who just so happens to be a single mother.

This movie is also not the first time the former Australian pacer has flirted with the Indian entertainment industry. Shortly after his retirement all those years ago, Lee sang and appeared in a music video alongside iconic Indian singer Asha Bhosle. Moreover, the fact that Lee has been doing some marketing for the movie in India also saw him come on the ‘Kapil Sharma show’, something that is followed by many an Indian. The film had previously released on the 19th of August.

The film that is directed by Anupam Sharma features Tanishtha Chaterjee, who plays the love of Lee. Gulshan Glover and Supriya Pathak also play key supporting roles in and around Chatterjee’s character. Supriya Pathak had earlier played a similar role to Chaterjee in her role in The Bengali Night where she starred alongside prominent British Actor Hugh Grant in the late 1980s.

Although the Hindustan Times gave it a pretty rotten rating, the critics seemed happy with some of the performances. One portion of the report read, “Tannishtha is a lovely actress. She gives Meera more depth than the script offers. The young debutant Maya Sathi, who plays Meera’s daughter, is also very good. But the actors can’t rise above the sloppy writing. And I was sad to see the talented Supriya Pathak reduced to a stereotype.”

“There is a supremely bizarre moment in which Will is watching the 2014 Hindi movie Kick and imagines himself and Meera in place of Salman and Jacqueline Fernandez in the song, ‘Jumme ki raat hai’. It’s very awkward.”
