Chance for India to rise to 2nd spot in ICC T20I team rankings
Chance for India to rise to 2nd spot in ICC T20I team rankings: India have great chance to move ahead in the ICC T20I team rankings during their 3-match T20I series against the South Africans which kicks off at Dharamsala on Friday.
India, currently placed at No.4 leads sixth-ranked South Africa by seven points, which means there will be changes in the table irrespective of how the series finishes.
India has a great chance to rise two places to second, but they need to win all the three matches.
If that happens, India will join number-one ranked Sri Lanka on 126 points but will be placed at No.2 when the ratings are calculated beyond the decimal point.
In case of South Africa winning the series 3-0, they will equal West Indies with 117 points but will be ranked behind them at the fifth spot due to decimal difference and India will slip to the eighth position.
A 2-1 series win for India will take them to No.3, just one point behind second-ranked Pakistan. In case of the same result for South Africa, it will help them to move up to fifth with India dropping to sixth.
