Team India senior batter Cheteshwar Pujara is currently in red-hot form. The right-handed batter recently stroked back-to-back centuries in the ongoing 2022 Royal London One Day Cup. Leading Sussex, the senior Indian batter stroked 174 runs off just 131 balls, hitting 20 fours and five maximums in his last outing. To note, it is Pujara’s highest List-A score as well.

As a result, his team Sussex went on to thrash Surrey by a big margin of 216 runs. Pujara has now expressed his feelings and said that he was ‘pleased’ to contribute to his side’s winning effort and will want to emulate his performance ahead as well.

The right-handed batter is also captaining the Sussex side in the absence of their permanent skipper Tom Haines. Talking about his performance in the match against Surrey, Pujara completely dominated the opposition bowling. He smashed five maximums in his innings on the bowling of pacers Matt Dunn, Conor McKerr, and Ryan Patel. Pujara was also excellent against spinners as he smashed Amar Virdi and Yousef Majid for big sixes.

Following a huge 216-run win against Surrey, the Indian batter took to Twitter and shared a few pictures from the face-off. He wrote, “Pleased to contribute to the team’s win tonight. Great play by the entire team @SussexCCC. We move onto the next one on a high note #SharkAttack”

To note, Sussex were in all kinds of trouble after being reduced to 9/2 in 3.2 overs. However, an excellent 205-run partnership between Pujara and Tom Clark meant that their side cross the 350-run mark easily in their allotted 50 overs. In reply, Surrey surrendered on 162/10 in just 31.4 overs. Sussex are currently placed third in the points table with three wins and two losses. They will face Durham in their next encounter.

The senior Indian batter will want to continue his good performance with the bat and ensure that his team wins the next contest. Pujara also had an excellent run during the 2022 County Championship Division Two, where he was the second-highest run-getter with 1094 runs in 13 innings.
