After much badgering and stuffing knocks, former New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns has lashed out at Brendon McCullum following the allegations made by the former New Zealand skipper in his new book. McCullum wrote an open letter titled ‘Cairnsy’ where he revealed a few shocking allegations about the former New Zealand all-rounder.

Chris Cairns has been dealing with a few courts in recent times including the one affiliated with the MCC wherein he has battled against the match-fixing allegations he was a part of in the Bangladesh Premier League and the New Zealand cricket team. Speaking about the same, Cairns said that he was disappointed about the fact that this matter has come up once again in the associated press.

“A number of people have asked me for my comment regarding Brendon McCullum’s book being released, and the media interviews he is conducting to promote it,” Cairns said in a statement.

“Whilst I am loathed to give this matter further oxygen, I believe it is important for me to make my position clear.  I will be making no further comment on the matter at this stage.

He also lashed out at Brendon McCullum for the same. “I am naturally disappointed that the same issues are being re-litigated. Again. If Brendon does not want his career to be defined by me, perhaps he should stop talking about me. Simple.

“And to say he didn’t know it was his duty to report an approach regarding match fixing for three years when his captain at the time was on the front cover of the ICC handbook. Really?

Chris Cairns also revealed that there were certain inaccuracies in the story published by the former New Zealand skipper.”There have been inconsistencies and inaccuracies in Brendon’s story from the beginning and not surprisingly this occurs again in his book in a number of respects.

“I am trying to move on with my life and I suggest Brendon does the same.  I hope he finds peace in his retirement, and I hope for his sake, that he never has to go through what I did in mine.”
