Chris Jordan to replace Adil Rashid in Adelaide Strikers squad for BBL 6
England fast bowler Chris Jordan has been picked by the Adelaide Strikers to join in as a replacement for compatriot leg-spinner Adil Rashid for the upcoming 6th edition of Australian Twety20 league Big Bash League. Strikers signed up Jordan since Rashid is a part of the England Test team and is on the tour of India serving the national team which will keep him busy for the month of December.
For now, the right-arm seamer will be considered only for the first couple of games after which the England team for the limited-overs leg of the India tour will be picked. If Rashid continues to be a part of the team which looks likely given how efficiently he has bowled on Indian wickets, Jordan’s stay with the team will be extended.
Jason Gillespie the Head Coach of the Adelaide Strikers was delighted to have the English pacer with them given he is a specialist of the shortest format. “Chris is an allrounder who has represented England with distinction and we are delighted to have secured his services,” Gillespie said.
“He bowls very good pace, is renowned for taking early wickets and he is also known for his death bowling; and he’s also one of the best fielders in the world.
“He’s a quality cricketer who has all three strings to his bow, and we’re extremely excited to be welcoming him here to the Adelaide Strikers.”
As far as his T20 league experience goes, Jordan featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 9 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He has appeared in 9 matches for them and has picked 11 wickets with an average of 23.45.
