After enjoying a three-week break from the bio-secure bubble restrictions, the Indian Test team reassembled in Durham on Friday to resume practice. The Virat Kohli-led side is due to take on hosts England in a five-match Test series, starting from August 4. The visitors indeed have a point to prove in the upcoming series as they lost to the New Zealand high-voltage ICC World Test Championship final last month.

Hence, India would be determined to stamp their authority by defeating the Three Lions at the latter’s den. Veteran opener Rohit Sharma has been doing well in red-ball cricket lately and he’ll certainly be critical to India’s success in the series. Well, the Joe Root-led must come up with a solid plan as the ‘Hitman’ is gearing up for the crucial series. The same is evident in his latest Instagram post.

Rohit Sharma gearing up for England series

The 34-year-old shared a couple of pictures from the recent training session and the caption defines his mood. “Chalo bhai, chutti khatam…Ab kaam shuru! (Ok brother, holidays over….now work is on)” wrote the dashing opener while making the post. Needless to mention, the comment section got flooded in no time as fans were delighted seeing the Nagpur-born cricketer back in action.

For the unversed, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) allowed the players to go out of the bio-secure following the conclusion of the WTC final on June 23. Rohit enjoyed a gala family time during the break and one can visit his social pages to verify the fact. However, he now has the onus to shine over the 22 yards to help India beat England.

Meanwhile, Rohit had a reasonable outing in the WTC final as he registered scores of 34 and 30 in two innings. While the veteran was applauded for tackling the new red cherry with precision, fans were disappointed as the batter couldn’t convert any of his starts into a big score. Notably, Rohit will have increased responsibilities with his first-choice opening partner Shubman Gill getting ruled out of the series.

Mayank Agarwal is all but likely to replace Gill but tackling veteran duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad in English conditions won’t be easy for him. Hence, Rohit needs to switch his A-game on.
