Colin de Grandhomme to replace injured Sean Solia for New Zealand A tour to India
Colin de Grandhomme is also part of the Kiwis One Day International squad that faces India later this month.
According to a New Zealand Cricket (NZC) press release, Sean Solia has been ruled out of New Zealand A’s tour to India. The reason for his ouster being a left hamstring injury. The Kiwis have roped in the services of all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme as a replacement.
It’s been reported that the 24-year-old suffered the injury during training. While it has not been deemed as serious, he has been ruled out of cricketing action for two weeks as a precautionary measure. Thus, he’s slated to miss all five One-Dayers against India A.
“It’s unfortunate timing for Solia”
The manager of New Zealand A side and Black Caps selector, Gavin Larsen stated that it was unfortunate timing for Solia. “We’re really disappointed for Sean that he won’t get the opportunity on this occasion to test himself at a higher level,” said Larsen.
He further went on to state that Solia has been an exciting prospect and they were looking forward to watching him step up for the team. “Sean is an exciting player and we were looking forward to seeing him get the chance to step up. To be ruled out just before the start of the series is very unlucky.”
Earlier this year, Solia had smashed an astonishing 152 runs off 127 balls on his List A debut for Auckland.
On the other hand, Colin de Grandhomme is also part of the Kiwis ODI squad that faces India later this month. He’s expected to join the New Zealand A side in Vishakapatnam and is likely to play the final two One Dayers. The all-rounder has the experience of playing on Indian pitches, having been part of the Kolkata Knight Riders set-up in the Indian Premier League.
Glenn Phillips is also among the latest entrants in the New Zealand A side, having replaced Jeet Raval following the two first-class matches.
