New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme will be representing the Northern Districts in the upcoming 2018-19 domestic season in New Zealand. Previously, the big-hitting all-rounder was playing for the Auckland based domestic side since 2007. However, due to change in address localities, Grandhomme has now moved his base in Tauranga and will be appearing for the Northern Districts to have an easier convenience.

Grandhomme bids adieu to Auckland to join the Northern Districts

Grandhomme has so far played 94 first-class, 120 List A and 150 T20 matches and has performed decently both with the bat and ball in the domestic tournaments. He is also now a crucial member of the national team across the three formats. The all-rounder thanked Auckland Cricket and the whole team for their guidance which helped him grow as a player over the years.

“I have a lot of respect for Auckland Cricket and want to thank the team and the staff for everything they’ve done for me over the years,” said de Grandhomme as quoted in the recent New Zealand press release.

It was a very hard decision to take

He also mentioned that it was a very difficult decision to shift his base from his longtime home in Auckland and now depart to play for a new side. The explosive all-rounder noted that he is ready and pretty much excited to field for the Northern Districts in the upcoming domestic season.

“It was a hard decision, but I’m looking forward to representing Northern Districts in a big season ahead,” further added the Kiwi all-rounder.

Colin was playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), in which his team failed to secure their place in the playoffs. RCB regenerated their hopes of qualifying for the final stages by recording some crucial wins in the second half of the tournament, but a disappointing loss to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a must-win encounter castled their faiths for this season of the IPL. Grandhomme scored 131 runs in nine matches at an explosive strike rate of 155.95 and also scalped two wickets this season for RCB.
