Cops interrogating pitch invader who ran into embrace Mashrafe Mortaza
The unidentified individual, who entered the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium to hug Mashrafe Mortaza during the third and final ODI between Bangladesh and Afghanistan, is been interrogated by the Mirpur police.
The Mirpur police officials have said that they were grilling the man to known his identity. The person claims to be fan of Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza. Dhaka Metropolitan Police will brief media later in the day. In the 30th over, the individual from the VIP gallery ran into the field and ran towards Mashrafe, who was standing in the mid-on region.
Mortaza was shocked at first but when the fan extended his arms and gestured that all he wanted was a hug, the Bangladeshi captain was all grounded by his wish. He shook his hand, hugged him and even seemed to ask the security officials not to hurt him.
He almost took him to the boundary and by then at least a dozen men concerned with the security rushed towards the cricketer. People were not sure about what happened afterwards. Speaking on the matter a BCB official yesterday opined that the individual was an emotional fan who probably was concerned about Mashrafe Mashrafe, who had earlier hurt his ankle at the start of the match.
