'Couldn't have relived the most iconic moment in a better manner, Ranveer Singh was at different level altogether' - Virat Kohli's review on '83
Virat Kohli is highly impressed by Ranveer Singh's portrayal of Kapil Dev.
The much-awaited ‘83 has hit the theaters and is getting phenomenal response. The sports drama showcases how the Kapil Dev-led Indian team, carrying the underdog tag, stunned the cricket world by lifting the 1983 World Cup. Directed by Kabir Khan, the movie was released on Friday (December 24) and on expected lines, the initial shows were housefull.
Delighted by the movie, many members of the cricket and film fraternity have also been showering praises on the movie. India’s Test skipper Virat Kohli is the latest to join the bandwagon. Taking to Twitter on Saturday (December 25), the talismanic cricketer expressed his views on ’83. Calling the movie ‘fantastically made,’ Kohli said India’s glory couldn’t have been recreated in a better way. He also heaped praises on Ranveer Singh, who disappeared into Kapil Dev in the sports drama.
83 is a fantastically made movie which immerses you in the events: Virat Kohli
“Couldn’t have relived the most iconic moment of Indian cricket history in a better manner. A fantastically made movie which immerses you in the events and the emotion of the world cup in 1983. Splendid performances as well,” Kohli wrote on Twitter.
“@RanveerOfficial was a different level altogether. Great job everyone! @therealkapildev @kabirkhankk,” he further added.
Meanwhile, 83, as per a report in Boxofficeindia.com, is estimated to have collected around ₹13-14 crore on Day 1 of its release. With the Kabir Khan directorial getting phenomenal response from fans and critics, the movie is expected to shatter many records in the box office.
Speaking of Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper is currently gearing up for the first Test against South Africa, which is a Boxing Day clash, which gets underway on December 26 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Notably, Kohli will have a point to prove as he has been shorts of runs lately.
In fact, his last international ton was recorded more than two years ago. It also must be noted that South Africa is the only nation where India is yet to record a Test series win. Hence, it would be interesting to see whether Virat Kohli’s men can defy the history this time around or not.
