The 2018 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is scheduled to commence from August 8 with the contest between the Trinbago Knight Riders and the St Lucia Stars. TKR is the defending champion and will be looking to continue their domination. The tournament has also been a witness to many young names coming to the fore owing to their skills in various departments.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, the losing finalists last year, will take the field to go one step ahead to final the Final. They also boast of players like Evin Lewis and Chris Gayle and Carlos Braithwaite who have been integral members of the Windies team. This time around they have also drafted in Nepal leg-break bowler Sandeep Lamichhane for the upcoming season.

“I’ll make it count”- Sandeep

Sandeep was a part of the Nepal national team, which gained ODI status this year beating Papua New Guinea. The teenager may now have the honor to feature in the playing eleven and make his debut in the prestigious event. Meanwhile, the Young Turk is ecstatic to ply his trade alongside Gayle and Lewis.

“I used to follow CPL from the beginning and I’ve been selected for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. It’s a big achievement for me, and again a good challenge for me ahead. I hope I’ll make it count, to play with big names, Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, it will be a good booster for me,” Lamichhane was quoted as saying by the CPL’s official website.

Sandeep was also a part of the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League. He didn’t get an opportunity to play in the early phase of the event but was roped in after the Daredevils crashed out of the IPL. He played only three matches and didn’t flatter to deceive by any means.

“It’s always good playing with some legends, playing with big names. It is a big achievement for me and for Nepal cricketers. I’m just looking forward to keep remaining [at this level]. Playing three matches [at the IPL], it gave me a lot of good confidence and I hope I will continue on the same form,” the Nepal tweaker added.
