Defending champions Barbados Tridents brought an end to their 3-match losing streak as they thumped the Jamaica Tallawahs by 36 runs. Kyle Mayers smashed eight sixes and three fours on his way to a 59-ball 85 to help Tridents finish on 145/8. The spin twins Mujeeb Ur Rahman (4-0-14-3) and Sandeep Lamichhane (4-0-16-2) managed to contain Mayers but the left-hander was brutal against the rest. Dwayne Smith hit eight sixes each during his unbeaten tons against St Lucia team in 2014 and 2017 respectively. The 8 sixes by Mayers are also the joint-most by any player in a CPL innings against the Jamaica Tallawahs.
Mujeeb gets the better of Rashid:
350 – Mujeeb Ur Rahman has a batting strike rate of 350 in the Twenty20 format against Rashid Khan. The 19-year-old has struck two fours and two sixes across the six balls he faced from Rashid while scoring 21 runs.
End Sandeep’s boundary-less streak:
74 – Mitchell Santner’s boundary during Sandeep Lamichhane’s 4th over of this game was the first boundary conceded by Lamichhane in 75 deliveries. Sandeep took five wickets for 36 runs in the 74 balls between the last two boundaries coming off his bowling in CPL 2020.
Mujeeb equals Shakib:
12 – Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s 12 wickets in this tournament are the joint-most number of wickets by a spinner for the Jamaica Tallawahs in a CPL edition alongside Shakib Al Hasan. Mujeeb only played five matches in this season thus far while Shakib needed 13 games for his 12 scalps during the 2016 season.
