The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is in the last leg of this season. After a closely fought league stage, St. Lucia Zouks were up against the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the second semi-final. The team, led by the local lad, Daren Sammy, clinched the game in style and made their way to the final in an amazing fashion. They bundled out opposition team for just 55, but the spotlight was again grabbed by Rahkeem Cornwall.

Guyana’s nine wickets fell for 55, Imran Tahir and Naveen ul Haq were the last batsmen in the middle. Like a typical tail-ender, Tahir went for a slog sweep on the first ball off Zahir Khan’s over. The young spinner bowled a googly and the ball missed the middle of Tahir’s bat to take an outside edge. Ironically, Tahir is known to confuse batsmen with his excellent googlies, but he fell for his own weapon.

The ball was dipping and looked outside the reach of Cornwall at the slip, but he had other plans. The Antigua lad dived towards the ball and took a single-handed fabulous catch. The opposition was bundled out for 55 but the Rahkeem Cornwall didn’t show any mercy towards them. He dominated their bowling and scored 32 off 17 which included 3 massive sixes. Zouks chased down the easy total in a mere 4.3 overs and reached the final of CPL 2020.

Here is the catch:

Trinbago Knight Riders and St. Lucia Zouks to play the final of CPL 2020

Trinbago Knight Riders’ journey in CPL 2020 has been a dream run. They were the only side to not lose a single game in the round-robin stage and finished at the top of the charts. In the semifinal, they again vanquished Jamaica Tallawahs and won the game quite comfortably. The star-studded line up is looking quite dangerous under the captaincy of Kieron Pollard.

St. Lucia Zouks, on the other hand, finished at the 3rd position after the league stage. They did win the semifinal very easily, but beating Knight Riders will be quite a challenge considering the form they are in. The final will be played on 10th September, Thursday. Though TKR looks favourite at the moment, the pressure a final match brings can make a lot of difference.
