2. Aaron Finch
Aaron Finch recently announced his retirement from ODI format after a string of poor scores in the series against New Zealand. The right-hander, however, is looking to regain his form in the T20I format and believes he can contribute a lot more at the top once he finds form. The upcoming tour to India will also be helpful to see if Finch still has got the destructiveness at the top of the order.
Despite Finch’s poor returns with the bat, he has been extraordinary with his captaincy and won the maiden T20 World Cup for Australia last year when the odds were against them. The 35-year-old has good numbers in the T20I format overall, which has helped the selectors to continue with him and he will need to deliver in the T20 World Cup 2022 at home.
With no major T20 tournaments until 2024, Finch might consider retiring from T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2022, as he has been holding up a place in the Australian batting lineup for a long time now. It will also provide an opportunity for the likes of David Warner to lead the side as well as the youngsters to be tried out at the opening slot.
