5 players with most man of the match awards in IPL history
After 15 years of the league, some players have proved why they've always been considered match-winners.
4. Rohit Sharma (18)
Rohit Sharma is the most valuable asset Mumbai Indians have as he has made the franchise the most successful in the IPL by winning five titles under his captaincy. The 35-year-old, apart from being a skipper, is also a dynamic batter for his team. In the 2022 edition of the IPL, he failed to deliver with his bat as he couldn’t find himself among the runs.
However, in the list of receiving Player of the Match award most times, he stands at number 4 by getting the award 18 times so far. In 2009, he got it once for picking up a hat-trick for the former IPL franchise Deccan Chargers against his present team Mumbai Indians by scalping the wickets of Abhishek Nayar, Harbhajan Singh, and JP Duminy.
Playing 227 matches of the IPL, Rohit has racked up 5,879 runs with an average of 30.30. In the 2022 edition, he was unimpressive by scoring only 268 runs in 14 matches at a horrendous average of 19.14. For 2023, he will look to get his form back by doing wonders with his bat.
