Buoyed by their victory against the four-time champions, the Men in Pink will be looking to ensure their top position in the points table with a victory against reigning champions Gujarat Titans. The return of Kiwi pacer Trent Boult is another massive boost for the Rajasthan-based outfit ahead of their crucial fixture.
English white-ball skipper Jos Buttler is looking in imperious touch, and he has found an able partner in young Indian dasher Yashasvi Jaiswal. The RR spin twins Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal are also firing on all cylinders, making them a formidable unit.
Here's Rajasthan Royals’ predicted XI against Gujarat Titans:
Openers: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler
The in-from Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to make his mark in the game against Chennai Super Kings as he was dismissed for just ten runs to his name in the second over of the match. The 21-year-old classy Indian opener has been on a sensational run in this year's tournament and will look to get among the runs in the game against the Titans.
While his opening partner was dismissed cheaply in the previous encounter, Jos Buttler continued his rollicking form in IPL 2023 with a blistering half-century against the four-time champions. During his 52-run knock, the explosive English batter scaled 3000 runs in IPL, the third fastest to the feat in the tournament's history.
Middle Order: Sanju Samson (c & wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel
Rajasthan Royals might have prevailed in a last-over thriller against the Chennai Super Kings but Rajasthan Royals' skipper Sanju Samson won't be looking back at the game too fondly as he was dismissed for a two-ball duck, his second successive duck of IPL 2023. The lack of runs from the RR skipper is becoming a concern for the team management.
Devdutt Padikkal justified his selection for the game against MS Dhoni's side as he played a valuable innings after the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal, ensuring a healthy powerplay for his side. He registered 38 runs in just 26 deliveries in a 77-run partnership with Jos Buttler for the second wicket.
The Rajasthan-based outfit were in a spot of bother after losing Jos Buttler and Ravichandran Ashwin in quick succession. But, Shimron Hetmyer ensured that his side finished with a flurry, thanks to his explosive 30 runs off just 18 deliveries that took the Royals to a competitive total of 175 runs.
All-rounders: Ravichandran Ashwin, Jason Holder
It was a happy homecoming for local hero Ravichandran Ashwin when he squared off against his former side in Chennai. The veteran Indian all-rounder was promoted up the batting order and chipped in with a handy 30 off 22 deliveries in a crucial partnership with Buttler. The ingenious off-spinner also outfoxed two CSK batters and was named the player of the match for his all-round heroics.
Jason Holder, who was dismissed for a golden duck earlier in the match, was not able to make amends with the ball as he was taken for 37 runs in his three overs. 19 of those 37 runs came in the penultimate over of the match when CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took the towering bowler to the cleaners.
Bowlers: Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sandeep Sharma
Rajasthan Royals will be glad to see veteran Kiwi pacer Trent Boult back in action after he missed the last outing against the Chennai Super Kings due to a small niggle. Boult has been the pick of the bowlers in IPL 2023, especially in the powerplay with the new ball in his hand. The left-arm pacer will be looking to provide another good start to his side in the upcoming fixture.
Veteran Indian leggie Yuzvendra Chahal was another Rajasthan bowler who had a memorable outing against the Yellow Army. Chahal's miserly bowling figures helped his side control the flow of runs in the middle overs, exerting pressure on the CSK batters. He returned with economic bowling figures of 2/27 in his four overs.
Sandeep Sharma was the hero for the Rajasthan-based outfit in a thrilling game in Chennai. The Indian seamer, who was taken for two sixes off consecutive deliveries by MS Dhoni in the final over, delivered a couple of unplayable yorkers to swing the match in his side's favour. He will be looking to replicate the same form in the crucial game against the reigning champions.
