MI will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their next fixture on Tuesday, April 18 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. SRH are also coming into the fixture having won their previous two encounters and hence, defeating them would not be an easy task for the five-time champions who will be looking to field a strong playing XI to complete a hat-trick of wins:
Here's Mumbai Indians’ predicted XI against Sunrisers Hyderabad
Openers: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk)
Rohit Sharma wasn’t a part of the starting XI against KKR; however, he came in to bat in the second innings as an impact player. The opening batter was involved in a 65-run stand for the first wicket with Ishan Kishan and scored 20 off 13 balls to help his side get off to a flying start. Sharma was awarded Player of the Match in Mumbai’s first win against Delhi and will look to replicate his performance in the upcoming matches.
Ishan Kishan finally found his form against KKR with his splendid half-century. The southpaw is an integral part of MI’s batting lineup and will look to continue his form and give blistering starts to the side in the upcoming matches.
Middle Order: Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Nehal Wadhera, Tim David
After being the only positive for MI in 2022, Tilak Varma has continued his form in the ongoing season as well scoring 177 runs in four innings at an average of 59 and a strike rate of 150 with one half-century to his name. Varma played an important role for MI in the middle order when SKY was trying to find his feet.
Suryakumar Yadav was finally amongst the runs against KKR with his 43-run knock, after registering scores of 15, 1 and 0 in the first three games. If MI are to progress ahead in this season, Suryakumar Yadav must fire for them in the middle order to help them post huge totals on the board.
Nehal Wadhera impressed on his IPL debut with his small cameo of 21 off 13 balls. The Southpaw, however, couldn’t take his side over the finishing line as Virat Kohli smashed a tireless half-century to take RCB home. Going forward, the 22-year-old would look to make the most of the opportunities he gets going further in the league.
Tim David played the role of the finisher in the previous two fixtures as he took MI home against DC and KKR respectively. The 27-year-old is capable of turning matches on their head with his breathtaking knocks and will be eager to take down opposition whenever he gets an opportunity.
All-rounder: Cameron Green
The 23-year-old has failed to leave an impact in the four games he’s played so far, having scored just 35 runs from four innings and picking up just two wickets in 10 overs he’s bowled. Green has further leaked runs at an economy of 10 and looked pale in both departments. MI would want their most expensive player to fire in the upcoming matches to change their fortunes in the season.
Bowlers: Piyush Chawla, Hrithik Shokeen, Jason Behrendorff, Riley Meredith
Piyush Chawal has been in terrific form in the ongoing season having picked up five wickets at an average of 20 and an economy of 6.25. Chawla is the sixth-highest wicket-taker in IPL history with 162 wickets to his name, claimed at an average of 27.16 and an economy of 7.83.
Hrithik Shokeen had a good game against KKR as he picked 2/34 in four overs which included the prized scalps of Nitish Rana and Shardul Thakur. The 22-year-old will look to bowl another memorable spell against SRH and restrict them to a low total.
Jason Behrendorff is the second-highest wicket-taker for MI so far with four wickets to his name at an average of 21 and an economy of 9.33. The left-arm seamer will look to take wickets with the new ball and get his team off to a rollicking start in the absence of Jofra Archer.
Meredith didn’t have a good game against KKR as he gave away 40 runs in four overs and claimed just one wicket. The right-arm seamer has picked up three wickets in the tournament so far at an average of 24.66 and an economy of 9.65. Having been taken to the cleaners in the previous fixture, Meredith will be eager to make a strong comeback against SRH.
