Speaking about their head-to-head records in the last five matches, DC have asserted dominance in each of their five meetings against SRH. Aiden Markram and Co. will look to swiftly get back to winning ways, whereas DC will aim to keep the momentum intact and climb up the points table.
Here's Delhi Capitals’ predicted XI against Sunrisers Hyderabad:
Openers: David Warner (c), Philip Salt (wk)
Aussie flamboyant southpaw David Warner has shown glimpses of how lethal he can get in the top-order but is yet to play his natural game in the league. Of the seven matches played thus far, Warner has collected 306 runs with four fifties to his name.
Despite getting the runs, Warner will look to turn his game from playing delicately to getting back to his aggressive hitting in the forthcoming matches. After dropping the likes of Prithvi Shaw courtesy of his underwhelming run, Philip Salt has got his chance to ply his trade for the franchise in the top-order.
However, the 26-year-old right-hander was sent packing for a first-ball duck in the previous encounter against SRH. While the management is likely to back him to feature in the upcoming clash, Salt will look to come to all guns blazing and produce a top knock.
Middle Order: Manish Pandey, Sarfaraz Khan, Ripal Patel
Manish Pandey is slowly starting to get the runs for his side; however, there is still a lot to improve in terms of maintaining consistency. The batter has compiled scores of 26, 50, 21, and 34 runs in his last four outings. Manish will need to shift gears and convert his game into bigger innings in the coming matches.
Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan has only got three matches thus far in the top-tier league. In each of the three outings, the batter has been rather underwhelming and collected 4, 30, and 10 runs, respectively. While Sarfaraz holds the potential to carve out innings-defining knocks, it remains to be seen if he gets his rhythm and hits the ground running.
Ripal Patel played his first match in the 2023 season against the Sunrisers. Coming down the middle-order, Ripal could only manage to score five runs in the match and headed back to the dugout following a run-out. The batter will need to own the responsibility to get the vital runs from down the order.
All-rounders: Mitchell Marsh, Axar Patel, Aman Hakim Khan
Coming in at No. 3, Mitchell Marsh has failed to produce impactful knocks with the bat and has returned a string of low scores in his last five matches. However, once the all-rounder feels settled, he could help the side by getting big runs. Moreover, he will also look to get breakthroughs with the ball and aim for an improved outing against SRH.
Star all-rounder Axar Patel relished a fine outing with the ball against Hyderabad in the previous clash. The spinner got two wickets to his name and gave away just 21 runs in his four overs. However, with the bat, he played a delicate knock of 34 off 34 balls in the same contest. Axar will look to maintain his fine form with the ball and improve on getting the runs for his side.
In his last five outings for the franchise, Aman Hakim Khan has endured a poor run in the league. With 34 runs under his belt, the 26-year-old will need to turn his game and play his aggressive innings in the second leg of the competition.
Bowlers: Anrich Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav, Ishant Sharma
Kuldeep Yadav and Ishant Sharma were highly impressive with the ball in the clash against SRH. While Kuldeep gave 22 runs in his four overs with one wicket, veteran pacer Ishant too, managed to get a wicket and gave mere 18 runs in his three overs.
On the other hand, Anrich Nortje proved to be slightly expensive, giving away 33 runs in his four overs. However, the ace pacer racked up two wickets in the contest and will be hungry for more scalps in the upcoming games. The bowling unit will look to replicate a similar sort of performance as they did in the first meeting against SRH.
