IPL 2023: Match 57, Gujarat Titans (GT) Predicted Playing XI vs Mumbai Indians

The defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) have continued their dominance in IPL 2023 as they are ranked on the top spot in the points table with eight wins from 11 matches. They beat Lucknow Super Giants by 56 runs in their last fixture, restricting them to 171/7 after putting a massive total of 227/2.

With just three games remaining in the league stage, the defending champions will look to further bolster their position on the top of the IPL points table. The Hardik Pandya-led side will be up against Mumbai Indians on May 12 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Mumbai are coming into the match having registered a massive win against RCB and hence GT will once again have to field a strong Playing XI beat the five-time champions in their fortress.

Openers: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill
Wriddhiman Saha played a scintillating knock of 81 off 43 balls with the help of ten fours and four sixes against LSG. Saha has been exceptional in the powerplay for GT as has taken on the bowlers right from the word go. In 11 matches this season, he has scored 273 runs at a strike rate of 137.19. The 38-year-old will look to continue his attacking ploy against MI and once again get his team off to a fiery start.
Shubman Gill is having the best year of his cricketing career so far as he’s scored hundred across all three formats in international cricket coming into the IPL. Gill has continued his form in the T20 extravaganza as well, as he is the highest run-scorer for GT this season with 469 runs to his name at an average of 46.90 and a strike rate of 143.43. The 23-year-old will look to continue his form against MI.
Middle Order: Vijay Shankar, Abhinav Manohar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia
Abhinav Manohar has proven his hitting prowess in the opportunities that he has got in the season so far, having scored 112 runs from five innings at a strike rate of 140. The 28-year-old did not get a chance to bat against LSG and will be eager to take on MI bowlers at the Wankhede Stadium in the upcoming fixture.
Vijay Shankar has played two brilliant knocks in the tournament so far with two half-centuries to his name, both coming against KKR. Shankar has scored 205 runs from seven innings at an average of 41 and a strike rate of 158.91. Having not got a chance to bat against LSG, Shankar will also look to rip apart MI’s bowling in the next fixture.
David Miller is a proven finisher in the history of the IPL and has once again put his finishing prowess on display having scored 201 runs from nine innings at an average of 50.25 and a strike rate of 150. Meanwhile,

Captain Hardik Pandya played a good cameo of 25 off 15 balls against LSG, however, he gave away 37 runs in his three-over spell. The 29-year-old has scored 277 runs in ten innings at an average of 34.62 and a strike rate of 130.66 with two fifties to his name. However, he hasn’t been that effective with the ball picking just three wickets from nine innings. The GT captain will once again look to contribute with both bat and ball against MI.
Bowlers: Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, Mohammed Shami, Mohit Sharma
Rashid Khan picked up one wicket against LSG giving 34 runs away in his four-over spell. The wrist-spinner is the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament so far with 19 wickets to his name from 11 innings at an average of 18.74. The 24-year-old has already been awarded Player of the Match twice so far and also has a hat-trick to his name. The Afghanistan spinner will be eager to once again bowl his team to another win against MI.
Mohammed Shami has been exceptional with the ball as he has managed to pick wickets at the top with the new ball. The seamer is also the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament so far with 19 wickets to his name from 11 innings at an average of 16.37. The 32-year-old will look to put up another memorable show with the ball against Mumbai.
Mohit Sharma had a great game against LSG as he finished as the pick of the bowlers for his side registering figures of 4/29 in his four-over spell. The 34-year-old has had a dream return to the tournament after three years as he’s picked 12 wickets from eight innings at an average of 13.25 and an economy of 6.96. Sharma will once again look to stop the run flow in the middle overs against MI and take his team to the play offs with another match-winning spell.
Noor Ahmad also had a great game against LSG as he picked 1/26 in his four-over spell. The left-arm spinner has been phenomenal in his debut season in the IPL, picking 11 wickets from seven innings at an average of 16. The 18-year-old will be once again eyeing big wickets of MI as he did during the previous fixture between the two teams.
