IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians strongest predicted playing XI against Kolkata Knight Riders
Mumbai Indians have already been knocked out of the competition but will be hoping to get some wins in their final two matches of the season.
Mumbai Indians (MI) will be taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 60th game of the Indian Premier League 2024 on Saturday, May 11. The contest is going to be played at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata and this is the final home game for the Kolkata Knight Riders. A win for the hosts would guarantee them a spot in the play-offs and also have a great chance of finishing in the top two of the league standings.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians became the first team earlier this week to get eliminated from this year’s competition. However, the five-time champions would be hoping for a good end to what has been a dismal campaign so far. They have only picked up four wins from their eight games thus far and sit at the eighth position currently in the points table.
Ahead of their enthralling encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, let’s take a look at how the Mumbai Indians might line-up.

Here is the strongest predicted playing XI of MI for the 60th match of the IPL 2024 against KKR -
Openers: Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan (WK)
After a great first few matches in this edition of the Indian Premier League, Rohit Sharma’s form has dropped significantly. The Team India skipper has not been able to contribute much with the bat of late and his form has become a concern for the team management. Nonetheless, he is still one of the best white-ball batters of the game and would be expected to start at Eden Gardens.
Similar to Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan is also undergoing a drastic shift in form. He was great in the initial few encounters but of late he has not been able to convert his starts into big runs for the franchise. He is still one of the best players of the franchise and will be backed till the end of the season at least.

Middle Order: Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, Tim David
The world’s number one T20I batter showed everyone what he is capable of during the last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Suryakumar Yadav was able to smash yet another hundred in the format and get the much-needed win for his side. He would be looking to add more runs to his tally as he looks to help out his side in the final few matches of the season.
One of the most consistent players for the Mumbai Indians not only this season but over the past three years has been Tilak Varma. The southpaw has been a revelation for the franchise and can perform in pressure situations for the side. The Hyderabad batter has performed on a consistent basis this season and is one of the players that might be retained by the team ahead of the mega auction.
The Mumbai Indians are known to produce talented youngsters and give them the platform to perform at the right time. Nehal Wadhera is another player that had been scouted by the franchise last year and the batter has kept up the faith of the management by putting in some great performances with the bat.
Tim David was recruited by the franchise as the potential successor to Kieron Pollard but the move has not worked well as of now. The Australian had some big shoes to fill but he is currently nowhere close to what Pollard used to do for the franchise. Consistency has been the biggest issue for the Australian batter and is likely to be dropped from the squad after the end of the current campaign.

All-rounder: Naman Dhir, Hardik Pandya
The selection of Naman Dhir ahead of some other talented players has come under question in recent times. The batting all-rounder had a tame outing against the Sunrisers Hyderabad where he gave his wicket away rather sheepishly after playing nine consecutive dot balls. There is a chance that he might not be picked in this game and the franchise might opt to go for an overseas player in the form of Dewald Brevis or Mohammad Nabi.

Bowlers: Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah, Anshul Kamboj
Time and time again, Piyush Chawla has proved to everyone that age is just a number as he continues to deliver for the team. He was able to scalp three wickets and was a menace against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The veteran can be a handy batter lower down the order as well and is surely a key component of the Mumbai Indians’ line-up.
There is no more feared all-format bowler in the world other than Jasprit Bumrah as the bowler delivers for his team in almost every game. Even if he is unable to take a wicket in any of the games, he will make sure that he is not leaking runs. The bowler’s addition to the side was crucial and the pacer is still in the race to win the Purple Cap at the end of the tournament.
Anshul Kamboj made his debut for the Mumbai Indians during the game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was unlucky not to claim the wicket of Travis Head on two occasions, but still it was a great spell from the youngster on debut. The pacer will likely start tomorrow as well and would look to trouble the batters with his line and length.
