In the 8th match of the Indian Premier League(IPL) 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be hosting the Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday, 27th March. After a narrow defeat at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders, the franchise would hope to bounce back at their home.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad are up against a side that looks in turmoil in terms of team spirit. The Mumbai Indians also come into this contest on the back of a 6-run defeat against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. Both teams are desperate for a win in this game to add some points to the league standings. A victory in this game for either of these two teams would give the players and their team management a lot of confidence for the rest of the season.

The home team might not look to make a whole string of changes in their upcoming match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. It may be so that they might stick to the same playing XI and combination and that almost clinched them the two points in Kolkata. Ahead of their next game against the Mumbai Indians, let’s take a look at how the team would line up for their first home match of the season.

Here is the predicted XI of the Sunrisers Hyderabad against Mumbai Indians (Match 8):

Openers: Mayank Aggarwal and Abhishek Sharma

The two openers for the franchise would once again be Mayank Agarwal and Abhishek Sharma. The duo started off the run-chase pretty well in the last game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and would look to do so once again. Agarwal especially looked solid at the crease and was playing his magnificent strokes with perfect timing.

Abhishek Sharma was promoted up the order this season and that move paid off for the franchise as he was able to play his shots with ease. His small cameo at the start was crucial but would be hoping to make it a big one during the next game. He was batting at a high strike rate as well which suggests his approach this season.

Middle Order: Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen

This is surely going to be a big and decisive season for Rahul Tripathi. He was dropped from the Indian team after only a few low scores and wasn’t backed by the team management as well. The right-handed batter had a sluggish start to the campaign this time around as he scored a run-a-ball 20 in the last game. If he can start playing the magnificent strokes, he is renowned for and be the perfect number three, the batter might have a shot at going for the T20 World 2024 later this year.

The right-handed batter came in at a crucial stage of the run-chase in the last game but could not stay at the crease for long. He had to depart after a short stay of 18 runs from 13 balls which included two fours. The South African skipper would be hoping to make a big comeback in the upcoming game as his side looks to earn their first points of the season.

This seems to be Heinrich Klaasen’s world and everyone is just living in it. Be it T20s or ODIs, the form in which Klaasen is in, he can win any game from any position for his side. He was unlucky in the last game, not to see his side through after doing the hard part of the run-chase. The wicket-keeper batter’s solid innings would be a confidence booster for the team management and also a sign that a win is not far away.

All-rounders: Marco Jansen, Shahbaz Ahmed

The South African International had a horror start to the 2024 IPL campaign as he conceded 40 runs in his 3 overs. Before even the Andre Russell show began, the all-rounder was taken apart by Phil Salt and Ramandeep Singh. With the bat, he could only face a single ball and scored just one run. He would be hoping for a much-improved performance for his side in the upcoming game against Mumbai Indians.

The former Royal Challengers Bengaluru player had a decent start for his new franchise as he scored a vital 16-run knock from five balls. With the ball, he might have to improve his line and lengths as he got smashed for 14 runs in the sole over he bowled that day. He would be expected to start the forthcoming game and hope for a better outcome with the ball.

Bowlers: Pat Cummins, Mayank Markande, T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The skipper of the franchise had a decent start to the Indian Premier League 2024 campaign as he got the key wicket of Ramandeep Singh, who looked dangerous to take the game away for the Kolkata Knight Riders. His captaincy might have been questionable due to some of the bowling changes and he might look to give some key overs to the team’s best bowlers this time around.

It is not normal that Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets taken apart by the batters and also goes wicket-less for his side. The medium-pacer was leaking runs in Kolkata on Saturday night and is one of the bowlers that needs to have a better performance against the Mumbai Indians. The veteran is known to make impressive comebacks more often than not and the franchise would be hopeful that he can do so once again.

T Natarajan was one of the key bowlers for the franchise in the last game as he claimed three wickets for 32 runs in his four overs in Kolkata. His early breakthroughs gave the team much-needed momentum and might be hopeful of doing so once again against the five-time champions at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

The leg-spinner, Mayank Markande had a decent outing in the last game as he conceded 39 runs but was also able to scalp two wickets for his side. If it wasn’t for Andre Russell, the spinner might have had a much-better economy as well. He might look to improve his line and lengths in the final overs, which may have been a concern for him in the last encounter.
