The experienced seamer missed IPL 2024 as he underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon in February. However, he is on the verge of making a comeback to competitive cricket and showcasing his brilliant skills in the international arena. Mohammed Shami won the Purple Cap in IPL 2023 as he bagged 28 wickets from 17 matches at an average of 18.61. Gujarat Titans felt his absence this season as no seamer could make a consistent impact with the new ball.

Mohammed Shami is known for giving wickets with the new ball and pegging opposition teams back inside the powerplay. He has also gotten accustomed to the surfaces at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Bengal pacer has also improved his skills in the death overs, mastering effective deliveries like the yorker and slower ball bouncer to bamboozle the batters. Shami has the experience of playing 110 IPL games and has taken 127 wickets at 26.86.

In the mega auction, teams will be on the lookout for bowlers who can give them wickets with the new ball and also pose a threat to the opponents at the death.
