ODI World Cup 2023: Australia's strongest predicted playing XI against England
Australia will take on England in Match 36 on Saturday, November 04 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Australia (AUS) will continue their campaign in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as they take on their oldest rivals England in Match 36 on Saturday, November 04 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The Pat Cummins-led side didn’t get off to a great start in the tournament as they lost their first two games against India and South Africa. However, they made a great comeback by winning their next four fixtures against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Netherlands and New Zealand.
Despite being on a winning run, Australia are yet to seal their spot in the semi-final of the tournament as they’re ranked on the third spot on the points table with four wins from six matches having eight points to their name. Australia have their fate in their own hands as a win in the remaining four fixtures will guarantee a spot in the semi-final for them. The five-time champions will first look to beat their oldest rivals who are having a disastrous campaign themselves.
Here's Australia's Predicted XI against England:
Openers: David Warner, Travis Head, Josh Inglis
David Warner is in sensational form in the tournament so far having scored 413 runs from six innings at an average of 68.83 and a strike rate of 112.53. The southpaw has two hundreds and one fifty in the tournament so far and will be hungry for another big knock against England.
After missing the first five matches of the tournament, Head made a dramatic comeback by playing a breathtaking innings of 109 off 67 balls against New Zealand. The southpaw smacked ten fours and seven sixes in his innings as he put on a massive 175-run stand with Warner for the first wicket.

Middle Order: Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Inglis
Steve Smith has looked like a pale shadow of himself in the tournament so far having scored just 161 runs in six innings at an average of 26.83 and a strike rate of 86.55. However, the 34-year-old has proven time and again that he’s a man for big occasions. Hence, Australia would want Smith to find his mojo back ahead of the semi-finals by scoring big against England.
Marnus Labuschagne also hasn’t got going in the cricketing extravaganza so far as he’s scored just 201 runs from six innings at an average of 33.50 and a strike rate of 77.30 with one half-century to his name. Australia will also want Labuschagne to find his groove back ahead of the knockouts by scoring well in the upcoming fixture.
Josh Inglis scored a brilliant 58 against Sri Lanka to help his side register their first win of the tournament. The wicketkeeper-batter has scored 128 runs from five innings at an average of 25.60 and a strike rate of 114.28. The 28-year-old has also inflicted six dismissals from five innings so far.
All Rounders: Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis
Green has only scored 16 runs from two innings so far and has also been wicketless in the two overs he’s bowled. The 24-year-old is a big-impact player and will be eager to leave his impact on the game in the upcoming fixture.
Marcus Stoinis has also had low returns with the bat so far in the tournament having scored just 46 runs from three innings at an average of 23. However, he’s managed to pick two wickets in the tournament so far from nine overs. The 34-year-old will look to find his form ahead of the crucial knockout fixtures in the upcoming game.

Captain Cummins is the joint second-highest wicket-taker for his team so far with eight scalps to his name from six innings at an average of 34.75 and an economy of 6.34. However, the ongoing edition has been different for the left-arm seamer as he’s picked just seven wickets from six matches at an average of 43.28 and an economy of 6.31. Starc will prove to be one of the most important players for Australia in the knockout stages. Hence, he will be eager to bring his ‘A game’ to the fore in the remaining matches.
