The Indian Premier League is all set to return for its 17th edition. Once again, ten franchises will go head-to-head over the next two months to win the ultimate prize. The journey is not the easiest but having a good squad that is capable of winning at any stadium is one of the key factors for a title-winning side.

Apart from a great squad, a franchise also requires a loyal and supportive fanbase. Fans love donning the jerseys of their favourite Indian Premier League sides. Rajasthan Royals are one such team that always have good support. Their jersey is also one merchandise that is always high-selling.

Let’s take a look at how the Rajasthan Royals’ jersey has evolved since the maiden edition of the IPL:

1. 2008

The amazing dark blue jersey with little shades of gold was giving the Rajasthan Royals jersey an amazing style. Moov was one of the sponsors for the team and had their logo on the right side of the jersey.

Ultratech Cement, the main sponsor got their logo around the chest region of the kit. Kingfisher was also one of the brands that collaborated with the team and their logo was present on the sleeve. Royal Challenge was also one of the brands and found its logo at the back of the jersey.

The legendary Shane Warne led the Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League. He was a crucial part of the title-winning run. They won the all-important final by a narrow margin against the Chennai Super Kings at the DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai.

The Rajasthan Royals management decided to change the jersey prior to the second edition of the Indian Premier League. The shades of gold were removed from the jersey and only the kit numbers were displayed with gold over the dark blue jersey. There were a whole set of changes of sponsors this year. 7UP found its logo on the right side of the jersey, while HDFC’s logo was present at the back of the kit. TATA had its logo present near the right sleeve of the jersey.

However, luck did not favour the defending champions as they were not able to retain their Indian Premier League crown. They had to bow out of the competition after finishing sixth in the league standings. The franchise was only able to win six out of their 14 games which wasn’t enough to make it to the knockout stages.

The iconic gold shades returned in a new avatar for the Rajasthan Royals as the ownership decided to have the sleeves of the jersey covered with gold. Moov returned to the right side of the jersey. But apart from that, there were no other major sponsor changes in this edition’s jersey of the Rajasthan Royals.

But the change in jersey did not bring about the change in luck for the franchise as they found themselves once again missing out on a playoff spot. The side won six out of their 14 games and found themselves two points short of a top-four spot.

The Rajasthan Royals' ownership decided to go back to the traditional dark blue jersey with stripes of gold along the sides of the jersey. In 2011, there were a series of changes in sponsors. JW Marriott found its logo over the left sleeve of the jersey above the Puma logo. Supertech was placed around the right side of the kit. Meanwhile, Floriana was the main sponsor for the season and had its place near the chest region of the jersey.

Once again, Rajasthan Royals could not muster a place in the knock-out stages of the competition. For the third season in a row, they could only manage six wins from their 14 games in this edition of the Indian Premier League. This time around, they were 3 points short of a 4th place spot.

For the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League, the inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals decided to make no changes to the jersey. Even the sponsors and their place modifications were intact for this edition’s jersey. However, their main sponsor, Ultratech Cement’s logo was coloured gold.

The luck on the field, however, did not change for the Rajasthan Royals as the side finished seventh in the league standings. The only positive might have been that they won seven games this time around from their 16 games in this edition of the Indian Premier League. Again on this occasion, they were just three points shy of a 4th place finish.

The team management decided to keep the style and design of the jersey similar to the last two seasons. But this time around, there were a couple of sponsor changes ahead of the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League. Rupa Frontline found its logo at the back of the kit. Meanwhile, the colour of the India Cements logo was shifted to white colour for this season. Two new sponsors, Valvoline and Nissan, found its logo on the right sleeve of the jersey.

The change in sponsors might have brought in luck for the inaugural champions as they made it to the playoffs for the first time since 2008. They finished 3rd in the league standings with tem wins from their 16 games. However, they lost to eventual champions Mumbai Indians in the Qualifier 2 of the competition.

The Rajasthan Royals looked like they were more than happy with the dark blue jersey and gold stripes as they did not make any modifications. There was one change in sponsors as KENT was added to the sleeve of the jersey ahead of the 7th edition of the world’s biggest franchise league.

But agonisingly, they could not make it to the playoffs. A last-ball Aditya Tare six ensured Mumbai Indians took the final playoff spot and eliminated the Rajasthan side.

Finally, the Rajasthan Royals decided to change something in the jersey prior to the 8th edition of the Indian Premier League. The gold stripes were much more prominent and there were some sponsor changes too. Mitashi was one of the new additions to the list and found their logo on the right sleeve. Amity was also a new sponsor and its logo was present below the Mitashi logo.

The Rajasthan Royals did however find a place in the playoffs as they finished fourth in the standings. They got seven wins from their 14 games. The Royal Challengers Bangalore knocked them out in the Eliminator.

After a two-year hiatus, Rajasthan Royals were back in the Indian Premier League and made serious changes to their kit. The dark blue jersey had diagonal lines of gold over the sleeves and pink shades over the shoulder region. KEI had their logo over on the right side of the jersey. JK Lakshmi Pro Cement was the main sponsor and their logo was around the chest area of the jersey. Astral Pipes and Jio found their logos on the right and left sleeves respectively.

Rajasthan Royals became a dominant force in this edition of the Indian Premier League as they were able to qualify for the playoffs once again. But their good run ended during the Eliminator match in this edition as they were knocked out by the Kolkata Knight Riders.

10. 2019

In an unexpected change, the ownership of the Rajasthan Royals decided to change the colour of the jersey ahead of the new season. They went with an all-pink kit with shades of dark blue to represent Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. Chowk Bazaar was one of the new additions in the sponsors department and they found their logo around the right sleeve of the kit.

The change in kit, however, might have changed their luck as they endured one of their worst finishes in the history of the Indian Premier League. The side was only able to win five games out of the 14 matches they played in this edition of the Indian Premier League.

11. 2020

The ownership decided to bring back some old style into the season’s jersey as the top half of the kit was all dark blue and the bottom half was pink. Red Bull was one of the sponsor additions and found their logo on the right sleeve of the kit. TV9 BharatVarsh found their logo around the chest region. Niine Sanitary campaign got their logo featured on the back side of the kit.

Similar to 2019, Rajasthan Royals had one of their most terrible campaigns of all time. They finished at the bottom of the league standings for the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League. They could only collect six wins from their 14 games and with a negative net run-rate, they found themselves at the last spot in the standings.

12. 2021

Rajasthan Royals management decided to keep the colours and style the same for this edition’s jersey. However, there was a new design near the stomach region of the kit with small squares. EXPO 2020 Dubai was the brand that featured in the chest area of the jersey. BKT was the new sponsor addition and had their logo at the back region of the jersey.

The luck did not change on the field for the Rajasthan Royals as they finished second last in the league standings. They managed to get only five wins from their 14 games during this edition of the Indian Premier League. It turned out to be once again another disappointing campaign for the Rajasthan Royals and the fans.

13. 2022

The pink jersey returned for the Rajasthan Royals as the darker shades of pink and blue were used. The dark blue was used for the sleeves, shoulders and as well as the sides of the jersey. The dollar brand featured around the right side. Happilo, the main sponsor found their logo present around the chest region of the kit.

The Rajasthan Royals turned it around and left all the previous seasons’ form behind them. They were one of the most in-form teams of the tournament as they went onto the finals of the competition for the first time since 2008. However, debutants Gujarat Titans managed to overcome them in the final.

The Rajasthan Royals decided to go with the same design and style which yielded them luck during the previous season. The only major sponsor change was the addition of Luminous around the chest region of the jersey. Apart from that the sponsors remained the same and their places also were similar to last season.

The Sanju Samson-led franchise was not able to muster the form from the 2022 edition. They were unable to qualify for the playoffs this time around and were highly inconsistent.  Rajasthan were also just two points shy of the fourth place and a win more would have made sure that they qualified for the playoffs.
