T20 World Cup 2022: Teamwise one player who might not get single game
The T20 World Cup 2022 will kick start on October 16 with the group stages and the action will move towards the Super 12 round from October 22.
5. South Africa - Reeza Hendricks
Reeza Hendricks has been a top performer for South Africa in the shortest format. He has been a bank with the bat and has amassed 1372 runs in 48 matches for the Proteas at a strike rate of 125.41. Also, the ace batter has been in a pristine touch of late.
In the T20I series against England, Hendricks scored 180 runs in three games at an amazing strike rate of 156.52. Then he carried his form to Ireland as well and scored 116 runs at a strike rate of 124.73. The Kimberley-born was picked for the World Cup but given the team’s composition, it is unlikely he will get to feature in any match in Australia.
The 33-year-old is a designated opener and will be contesting with Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma for the opening slot. De Kock is one of the top-white ball batters and is certain to start the proceedings for the Proteas. Bavuma on the other hand is the team’s skipper and will play every game. This indicates that Hendricks might be benched throughout the tournament.
