Two heavyweights in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians are all set to square off in the blockbuster finale on Sunday, March 26. Thus far, the two sides have contested two league games with BOTH winning one match each.

With a date set for the ultimate glory- the coveted title, both teams will look to establish their bragging rights upon the other. Throughout the course of the WPL, the two sides have played scintillating cricket which has taken the nation by storm.

An exciting clash awaits as the best franchises in the league lock horns one final time on Sunday for the glittering trophy. However, the underlying question remains- Will it be another Australian leading the side to lift the title as it happened in the IPL 2008, or will Harmanpreet Kaur cement her name in history as the Indian skipper to clinch the inaugural WPL title? All eyes will be on the two teams playing at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.

Here’s Mumbai Indians predicted XI for the Final against Delhi Capitals:

Openers – Yastika Bhatia (wk), Hayley Matthews

In the first encounter against Delhi, Yastika hammered 41 runs to hand Mumbai a decent head start in the contest. Though she has been unable to convert it into big scores, one cannot rule out the important partnerships she raises at crunch moments.

Though she opens for the side, Hayley Matthews has proven to be one of the most lethal all-rounders in the first edition of the WPL. The explosive batter has fired massive runs on numerous occasions and will look to do precisely that in the finale of the event. Adding to this, Harmanpreet will surely hand her the ball so she could also add a few wickets to her name and dent the rival line-up.

Middle order - Nat Sciver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur (c)

Nat Sciver-Brunt’s blistering knock of 72 off 38 balls included nine boundaries and clobbered two maximums at a strike rate of 189.47 against UP in the Eliminator game. Notably, she is among the leading run-getters and will be vying for a title-winning performance against Delhi in the finals.

Harmanpreet Kaur has been a terrific leader since the start of the tournament. Despite two losses, she bounced back in a resounding fashion to lead her team to the finals. With the bat, she will look to get the big scores if the top-order fails to fire against Delhi.

All-rounders - Amelia Kerr, Amanjot Kaur, Pooja Vastrakar

The all-rounder trio has been impressive in the season thus far, either with the ball or with the bat. Amelia and Amanjot performed decently well with the ball against the Warriorz whereas Pooja Vastrakar along with Nat Sciver steered the side to a competitive total in the Eliminator.

With one match to go, the trio will look to put their best foot forward and get their side ahead against Delhi. It is highly likely that the management will play the same all-rounders heading into the finals of the WPL.

Bowlers - Issy Wong, Humaira Kazi, Saika Ishaque, Jintimani Kalita

The bowling unit was bang on against UP Warriorz in their crucial clash. Notably, Issy Wong produced her best bowling innings, scalping a hat-trick and returning a four-wicket haul for mere 15 runs in her four overs.

Getting the breakthroughs has been a regular phenomenon for spin sensation Saika Ishaque in the WPL. Unsurprisingly, she yet again struck vital blows in the last match and got her side ahead in the contest, returning bowling figures of 2/24 in 2.4 overs.

Jintimani Kalita got one over in the contest, picked up a wicket, and gave away just two runs. On the other hand, Humaira Kazi did not get her chance with the ball. Considering that Mumbai have too many options, Harmanpreet decided to hand a break to Kazi. However, the duo of Jintimani and Humaira could prove to play an important role in the finale.

Mumbai Indians Women (MI-W):

Hayley Matthews, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Nat Sciver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Amelia Kerr, Pooja Vastrakar, Issy Wong, Amanjot Kaur, Humaira Kazi, Jintimani Kalita, Saika Ishaque
