WPL 2024: Best Bowling Performances of the league
After the conclusion of the marquee tournament, let’s talk about the five best bowling performances that will be remembered for a long time.
2. Shobhana Asha’s 5/22 against UP Warriorz (UPW)
Shobhana Asha can be called an unsung hero of RCB’s title win. Following Challengers’ success, fans are hailing Ellyse Perry and Shreyanka Patil for their extraordinary performances but Asha’s contribution to the side has gone unnoticed thus far. The leg-break bowler got 12 wickets in 10 contests at an economy of 7.11 and ended up as the second-leading wicket-taker in the tournament.
In the league round, she showcased her bowling mettle against UP Warriorz and became the first Indian bowler to pick up a fifer in WPL. Defending 157 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium’s batting pitch successfully, the Challengers pocketed a two-run win with Shobhana’s superb bowling effort. Bowling a four-over spell, she picked up UP’s key batters Vrinda Dinesh, Tahlia McGrath, Shweta Sehrawat, and Grace Harris.
