<p>Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are crowned champions after the conclusion of the 2024 <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/wipl-womens-indian-premier-league/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Women’s Premier League (WPL)</strong></a>. On one side, RCB celebrated their fantabulous title victory which they earned with their diligence and perseverance while on the other side, some teams will look to rebuild themselves after their tumultuous campaigns in this year’s T20 extravaganza.</p>
<p>After one year, when WPL returned with its second season, fans had kept their expectations high from their respective teams but when some sides had disastrous campaigns, supporters looked despondent. Following the 24-day extraordinary T20 action, let’s rate the performance of all sides</p>

<h3>5. Gujarat Giants (GG)- 4/10</h3>

<p>Following the terrible season in 2023, Gujarat Giants (GG) were expected to do wonders under their captain Beth Mooney in the second WPL edition. However, Mooney failed to be impactful as a skipper and Gujarat ended the competition as the most unsuccessful side in 2024 again, with only two wins in eight games.</p>
<p>Except for Mooney, all other key batters looked miserable. Harleen Deol left the camp due to an injury after playing three games. Laura Woolvardt lacked consistency while Dayalan Hemalatha put up a poor batting show. From the bowling unit, only Tanuja Kanwar and Ashleigh Gardner did their jobs efficiently.</p>

<p>UP Warriorz (UPW) disheartened their fans with their cheerless performance in the 2024 WPL. Out of eight games, they won three and lost five. With their eight-run loss against Gujarat at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Healy and her girls were knocked out of the competition.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Captain Healy, Grace Harris, and Tahlia McGrath struggled to be among the runs. UP’s spinners Deepti Sharma and Sophie Ecclestone lived upto the expectations but their pacers struggled with line and length. It was only Deepti, who showcased her all-round mettle and gave some positive moments to UPW fans.</p>

Their journey ended in the playoffs with a five-run defeat at the hands of RCB in the Eliminator held in Delhi.</p>
<p>Harmanpreet showed her belligerent side with the bat multiple times in the competition but didn’t get enough assistance from other teammates consistently. Hayley Matthews and Issy Wong, who played an integral part in MI’s victory in the maiden season, also looked ordinary.</p>
<p>Natalie Sciver-Brunt put up a valiant show with the ball, bagging 10 wickets in nine contests at an economy of 7.96. Mumbai’s bowling attack displayed their courage multiple times in the competition but their batters undermined the team with their poor performances.</p>

Notching up 331 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of 123.04, she ended up as the second-leading run-getter in the competition.</p>

After the one-run loss against Capitals in the league stage, Challengers were on the brink of elimination but Ellyse Perry didn’t lose hope and delivered a majestic all-round performance to the team against MI. Riding on her 6/15 figures with the ball and unbeaten 40-run knock off 38 balls, Bangalore tasted a seven-wicket win and qualified for the playoffs.</p>
<p>Following the game against MI, Bangalore looked extremely confident and went on to beat Mumbai again in the Eliminator. This time, MI faced a five-run loss against Smriti Mandhana and Co. In the final, when DC looked dominating in the initial phase of the contest, Sophie Molineux stepped up and delivered an amazing spell to her side. The Australia pacer’s superb bowling instilled confidence in Shreyanka Patil and Asha Shobhana, who wreaked havoc on Delhi.</p>
<p>Bangalore’s victory reveals how the collective team effort can bring success to any side. From veterans to youngsters, every player did their job superbly.
