Mushfiqur Rahim made his international debut in May 2005 and has emerged as one of the greats of Bangladesh cricket. He took top-quality attacks to the cleaners and piled on runs with ease. He has featured in 239 ODIs and notched up 6811 runs at an average of 36.42. In Test cricket, the Bogra-born has amassed 5321 runs in 84 matches at an average of 37.47.

Rahim also captained the national team across formats for a substantial period and shepherd the side to some superb victories. Be it as a leader or a captain, the veteran batter’s role in lifting the stature of Bangladesh in the international arena has been immense.

Rahim decided to hang his boots in the shortest format in September 2022 and one might witness the right-handed batter retire from Tests in 2023. With quality wicketkeeper batters such as Litton Das and Nurul Hasan rising in the ranks, the 35-year-old could bring the curtains down on his Test career.
