The young sensation Dunith Wellalage will be one of the most exciting players this season. He made an impeccable impact in the Asia Cup 2023 when he ran away with big wickets against World giants India and Pakistan. He is an orthodox left-arm slow bowler who can take advantage of the potential spin-friendly conditions in India.

The 20-year-old made his ODI debut against Australia last year and has not looked back since then. In 19 games that he played, he has taken 19 wickets with an average of 25.37. Apart from his outstanding bowling, he can bat in the lower order as well with a decent technique.

With Hasaranga ruled out of the World Cup Wellalage will lead the spin department with senior Theekshana on his side. He will be looking to make a larger impact in his first World Cup itself as Sri Lanka look to finally win the World Cup after 27 years. Dasun Shanaka will be leading the side to challenge England’s World Title.
