10 players who are featuring in their first ODI World Cup
Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav will mark their much-awaited debut at the biggest stage of all in the form of the ODI World Cup 2023.
5. Marco Jansen
Another tall pacer, a little taller than other South African pacers Marco Jansen has made his name on the World stage pretty early. He is a left-arm pacer and that helps him with the angle to trouble the right-handers. He will be playing his first World Cup after making his debut against India in 2022.
Jansen can be effective with bat as well apart from being a wicket-taking bowler. So far in his short career he has picked up 18 wickets in 14 games and has scored 265 runs with an average of 29.44 and SR of 114.72. His performance in both the department provides South Africa with amazing balance.
He would like to continue his amazing form which led to beating Australia 3-2 after being down at 0-2. There have been talks of him being promoted up the order considering his temperament. With Nortje ruled out, he will also handle the new ball with Kagiso Rabada to good effect.
