At the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium, India and Australia clashed with each other in the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2022-23. Folding the visitors on 177 in the first innings, India were looking confident and later their batters also exuded confidence with their aggressive batting. Rohit, the captain of the Indian team, was leading from the front with his bat.

Smashing a ton, the skipper had put India in a commanding position. After the fall of five wickets, Ravindra Jadeja was accompanying him in the middle. On the second delivery of the 77th over, the left-handed batter played a shot towards the fine leg area, where Steve Smith was deployed.

The southpaw strived to convert a single into a double but his captain refused to go for the second run and was heard on the stump mic saying, “Yeh pagal hai thoda sach mein (he’s a little mad, really). In the end, India emerged victorious in the contest by an innings and 132 runs, and Rohit’s 120-run knock played a vital part in his team’s success
