5 Biggest controversies that rocked Bangladesh cricket
Bangladesh cricket has been marred with several controversies over the years.
4. Shahadat Hossain child maid torture case and 5-year ban incident
Shahadat Hossain, in September 2015, found himself in deep trouble after a case was registered against him and his wife for allegedly torturing their 11-year-old maid. For almost a month, Hossain evaded his arrest by running away from the police, but in October 2015, he surrendered himself to the police.
Following the incident, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also suspended him from all forms of cricket. But in May 2016, he was allowed to participate in domestic cricket on humanitarian grounds. Almost after one year, in November 2016, Hossain and his wife got acquitted of the charges by a Bangladesh court as the prosecution failed to prove them guilty.
In 2018, he was again surrounded with controversy after allegedly beating a rickshaw puller in Dhaka for hitting his car. While a year later, he again got slapped with a ban of five years for being violent against his Dhaka teammate Arafat Sunny Jr during a contest against Khulna.
