And young cricketers are aiming to give their all in the IPL to earn a spot in the national side. In fact, some budding athletes aim to shine in IPL to set their national launchpad.

Additionally, the lucrative competition has provided a platform for cricketers to rekindle their careers. And at times, retired cricketers have demonstrated that they have not lost touch with their performances. These cricketers lend valuable experience to the teams they played for and showed that nothing beats skills and experience even if they have left the game at the highest level.

5. Faf du Plessis

Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis last played for his country in a T20I match in 2020. He made his Indian Premier League debut in 2012 and played for Chennai Super Kings till IPL 2021. He then moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) who bought him in the IPL 2022 auction and has been leading the team since then. 

Since retirement from international cricket, Faf du Plessis has been busy in T20 leagues worldwide, especially in the IPL. He has made 633, 468, and 730 runs in the last three seasons of the IPL, with 17 fifties to his name and his highest score is 96, which came in IPL 2022. He has also been honoured as the captain of Bangalore after long-time skipper Virat Kohli chose to hang his captaincy boots.
