Shakib Al Hasan has been one of the finest all-rounders to feature in the game and arguably a trailblazer for the Bangladesh national team. So far, he has scored 13,205 runs and picked up 632 wickets across all three formats. In particular, Shakib has 122 wickets in T20Is, which is the most by any bowler in the format.

Although his performances have been exemplary, Shakib has displayed unruly behaviour on the field at several times in his career. There have been multiple occasions, wherein the all-rounder has gone out of his way to vent his anger towards the fans and umpires, based on the results and decisions in those matches.

5 instances when Shakib Al Hasan lost his temper on the field

5. Banned for three DPL 2021 matches for losing his temper

Playing for the Mohammedan Sporting Club against Abahani Limited in the 2021 edition of the Dhaka Premier League, Shakib lost his cool after an umpire turned down his LBW appeal. The 35-year-old thought the LBW was quite straightforward and the batter Mushfiqur Rahim was plumb in front and hence was furious with the umpire’s decision as it was ruled in favour of Rahim.

The veteran all-rounder was caught on camera, while kicking the stumps, knocking the bails off to protest against the ruling. Furthermore, he argued with the on-field umpires, after they told the players to go off the field with one ball to spare in the sixth over. Although Mohammedan was well ahead in terms of DLS, Shakib’s reaction was baffling.

After the resumption of the fixture, Mohammaden eventually won the match, and the southpaw expressed his apology on social media. However, the authorities banned Shakib for the next three games of the tournament and he was handed a fine of Bangladesh Taka 5 lakhs (USD 5800 approx.).
