After stunning Sri Lanka in the group stage, Bangladesh eliminated Pakistan, handing them a 37-run defeat in the Super 4 round. For both sides, it was a must-win clash and Bangladesh were the ones who handled the pressure beautifully and set up the final with the Men in Blue in Dubai.

In the match, Pakistan got off to an excellent start with the ball after losing the toss. Junaid Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi demolished Bangladesh’s top order, picking up Soumya Sarkar, Mominul Haque, and Litton Das within five overs. After the fall of early wickets, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Mithun again came to the rescue.

Both batters stitched a vital 144-run partnership that helped Bangladesh to post a decent total of 239 runs on the board in 48.5 overs. Rahim played a fine knock of 99 (116) while Mithun contributed 60 (84) to his team. Going after the target of 240, Pakistan lost their key batters Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, and Sarfaraz Ahmed early. Imam-ul-Haq stood at the crease till the 41st over, scoring 83 off 105 but he didn’t get enough support from other batters which led to Pakistan’s loss in the contest.
