Stranded India batter Mayank Agarwal played for Delhi Capitals for three seasons. He was signed for INR 1.6 crore in the 2014 auction and he was given a fair share of opportunities in the first couple of seasons but the Bengaluru-born cricketer failed to make the most of it. In 2014 particularly, he played eight matches and scored 115 runs at a strike rate rate of 126.37.

In the following season, he played 10 matches for the team. He made 213 runs at a strike rate of 120.33 but yet, the team management backed him for another season. In 2016, he played only three matches and 27 runs following which, they decided to part ways with the cricketer.

Mayank went on to struggle for two more seasons, one for Rising Pune Supergiants and one for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) before finding his feet in the 2019 edition, in which he scored 332 runs in 13 matches. In the following two seasons, he scored 424 and 441 runs respectively and went on to lead Punjab as well.
