Delhi was the first IPL team to sign Australia international Travis Head in 2015. He was only 21 years of that time but was considered to be a player with high potential. However, Jean-Paul Duminy, who was the captain of Delhi at that time, couldn’t hand him a place in the team that year and eventually, Head was released ahead of the 2016 IPL auction.

Royal Challengers Bangalore signed him in the 2016 auction. He played three games for them in 2016, in which, the cricketer 54 runs at a strike rate of 135. In 2017, he played seven games, in which Head scored 151 runs at a strike rate of 139.81.

For the next six years, Head was not called up by any IPL team. After his blistering knock in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 against India, Head was once again called back in the IPL as he joined Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2024 and scored 567 in 15 matches and helped the team qualify for the final.
