5 players you didn't know once played for Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals are one of the four franchises that never won the IPL title.
2. Andre Russell
Andre Russell was part of the Delhi team for two seasons - 2012 and 2013. There’s a wide belief that the West Indies all-rounder was scouted by Kolkata Knight Riders but that isn’t true. However, the Delhi franchise couldn’t hand him enough opportunities and in the limited matches that he played, Russell could not impress which led to the franchise releasing him ahead of the 2014 edition.
Russell played four matches in the 2012 edition, in which, he scored 47 runs and picked up one wicket. In 2013, he featured in three games and scored 11 runs only. Being an overseas player, DC believed that finding a replacement for him would be a wise decision but in the long run, it proved to be a disaster.
The all-rounder is one of the greatest foreign cricketers to play in the tournament. In 2014, he joined Kolkata Knight Riders, where his life changed for good. Overall, he played 127 games in the cash-rich league scored 2484 runs and has 115 wickets to his name. KKR never even had the idea of parting ways with Russell and as things stand, he is very likely to be retained ahead of the 2025 mega-auction.
