4. Only Indian batter to score two triple hundreds in Test cricket
There have been many legendary Indian batters that have played the longest format of the game. Top-drawer players such as Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and VVS Laxman have represented India in the Test arena but Sehwag is the only cricketer to have scored two triple centuries.
The Delhi-batter’s first triple ton came against Pakistan in March 2004 in Multan. He hammered a potent Pakistan bowling attack all across the park and scored 309 runs off 375 balls. Sehwag breached the 300-mark for the second time against South Africa in 2008 in Chennai.
It does not appear that Virender’s record of scoring two triple centuries will be broken by any Indian cricketer. Till date, Karun Nair is the only other Indian batter to have scored a triple ton but he is currently not part of the Indian Test set-up. Moreover, Kohli who is India’s run machine is also yet to touch the 300-mark in the longest format of the game. Thus, the chances of a player hitting two triple tons in an era where pitches aid the bowlers, are quite bleak.
