Pat Cummins led the Aussies from the front in the first Test at Edgbaston. Grabbing four wickets in the second innings, the pacer helped his team to wrap the hosts on an average total of 273. With the bat, the Aussie skipper piled up 44 runs and took his team comfortably, along with Nathan Lyon.

While on the other side, Joe Root also exuded confidence with his bat in the series opener. In the first innings of the match, the batting veteran played an unbeaten 118-run knock against the quality Aussie bowling line-up. The right-handed batter continued his good work in the second innings and amassed 46 runs off just 55 deliveries.
