5. Pakistan - 8/10
So close, yet so far! Before the start of the tournament, Pakistan was considered as one of the favourites to win the trophy and after winning the toss in the finals, they were thought to dominate the match. The team did so but had no answer to Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s blistering innings. Fielding which was considered to be Pakistan's asset became their liability as Shadab Khan missed two of the important ones in the final.
Overall, the team had a decent time in the middle. Leaving out the first and last match of their campaign, Pakistan has played some good cricket. In the absence of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Junior, players like Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf stepped up to help Pakistan reach the finals.
Even though Babar Azam had a terrible season, his partner in the top order, Mohammad Rizwan had a brilliant campaign. With 281 runs to his name, Rizwan is the leading run scorer of the Asia Cup 2022. Fakhar Zaman, another of their stars, had a pretty bad campaign while the middle order looked shaky from time to time.
